Architizer A+Awards 2017

The quayside construction project at Mainz’s Zollhafen by schneider+schumacher and bb22 has made it into the final round of the Architizer A+Awards. DOXX has reached the finals in the category "Unbuilt – Multi-Unit Housing (S <10 Floors)" alongside four other projects, and has thus prevailed against a large number of international contenders. This also means the project is eligible for the Jury Award and the Popular Choice Award. The winners will be announced on 11 April. In total the A+Awards received applications from more than 100 countries for the competition, arranged by the architectural website Architizer.com.

The project’s design concept not only proposes an original building form, it also places the apartments on the upper floors. This approach then allows views out in all directions, optimizes natural lighting and maximizes the distance to the buildings opposite. The name "DOXX" both reflects the double-X structure of the building and makes reference to the harbour docks.
